Autumn Flood Warnings Issued

Weather Warnings Issued For This Weekend

Landlords are being warned to make sure that their rental properties are properly insured and ready for worsening weather conditions as forecasters are predicting severe weather and a sharp drop in temperatures this weekend as Autumn finally takes hold.

Met office forecasters are predicting that temperatures are set to drop 10oC this week and weather warnings have already been issued across most of England for the upcoming weekend because of a high risk of flooding.

Despite temperatures reaching 30oC last Thursday, Met office forecasters say this weekend will feel very different and cold, as temperatures are set to plummet.

Weather warnings have been issued for most of the UK for Friday and Saturday because heavy rain and high winds are expected to hit the North West, Scotland and Wales that could cause flooding but the South East is expected to remain dry and fairly sunny.

Laura Young, a forecaster at the Met Office, said: “The temperatures for the weekend are expected to reach between 14oC and 19oC (57oF – 66oF), which is about normal for this time of year. But because of the weather we had last week it’s going to feel very cold. There’s a big drop in temperature which means people are going to feel it more than when it cools down gradually. Part of the reason for the large area covered by the weather warning is that we have some complex weather systems will be moving through so we can not be entirely sure where the worst of the rain will hit.”

After a week of warm temperatures and sunshine, the mercury peaked at 86.4oF (30.2oC) in Kent on Thursday, which is unusually high for this time of year.

Temperatures are set to return to normal autumnal weather conditions and there is a risk of flooding across all of England on Friday, except Scotland, London and the South East. This risk extends to Scotland on Saturday.

Property owners and landlords are reminded to have adequate landlord and buildings insurance in place to ensure that should rental properties become damaged, they will not be too out of pocket paying for repairs.
